Profile: Each of the materials selected for this design has a place in the healing process, whether physical or visual, like a little stack of remedies:

The shell calls us back to the sea, the pulse of the tides and the vastness of its waters. The bird symbolizes flight, freedom, and a lightness of spirit.

Natural golden sandalwood (santalum album), known for its distinctively soft creamy/woody/milky scent, is full of antioxidants and has a long standing spiritual history linked to clarity and calm, used in everything from incense to perfume.

Turquoise’s history runs deep, with the distinctive green/blue color coming from elements of copper and iron. The name derived from the french «pierre turquoise » around the 13th century, when Persian turquoise was brought to Europe via Turkey. A naturally calming stone, it can induce internal serenity and lift depleted spirits.

The Philippine Wild Mamalis tree (pittosporum pentandrum blanco) has long glossy leaves, creamy white orange-scented flowers, and the wood grows white in color naturally. The leaves, flowers, fruit and bark have a history of use as remedies and general antidotes for a range of issues including childbirth and prolonged illness.

Africa has a long, rich history of beads — from use as currency to symbols of social status to discovery in abundance at ancient burial sites. The vibrant green color of these oblong wood beads lifts the mood and ties this soothing little “totem” together.
